Cru’s Statement of Faith

The sole basis of our beliefs is the Bible, God's infallible written Word, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. We believe that it was uniquely, verbally and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and that it was written without error (inerrant) in the original manuscripts. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters on which it speaks. Read More →

The Institute of Biblical Studies

IBS is devoted to the theological development of Cru and its staff. The IBS site provides an overview of options and opportunities for biblical study.

Theological Books

Recommended Reading is a comprehensive list / review of foundational Christian books.

Bible Commentaries provide the notes, comments, and explanations of biblical scholars on the many verses of the Bible. Commentaries range in size and complexity and the first step into the world of commentaries is a Study Bible. The ESV Study Bible is a great one, as is the classic  NIV Study Bible .

Going deeper in your study, you may want even more information than a Study Bible provides. The NIV Life Application Commentary (NIVAC) devotes nearly an entire volume to each and every book of the Bible. That ought to keep you busy.

For those comfortable and familiar with Bible Commentaries, here’s a guide to the best commentaries for each book of the Bible.

Doctrine

CoreDoctrine is Cru’s online doctrine class, covering everything from soteriology (the study of Salvation) to eschatology (the study of the End Times). The only catch is that you need a Cru staff member as a designated mentor in order to sign up. Just ask any staff member you know.

If you’re more of a listener than a reader,  Grudem’s Systematic Theology is available via podcast, as is William Lane Craig’s Doctrine and Apologetics classes .
