Dave Huddleston

Staff Member in Melbourne, Australia

Dave Huddleston serves as the National Ministry Leader for Youth Ministries Australia, equipping leaders and students to influence this generation for Jesus. He and his wife, Judy, have been married 26 years and have 3 sons and 1 daughter.

What are you presently learning about God?

He is always faithful, and His faithfulness enables me to persevere. He is my only hope and my great provider, giving good gifts to His children who ask. His timing is always perfect, and His purposes will always prevail.

What do you think makes a successful leader?

[I believe it requires] surrender to God and His call, remaining in Jesus, pursuing intimacy with Him as Lord, Savior and friend, and being in a place where we can communicate openly with God and allow Him to fill the spiritual and emotional tank regularly so we can give out what we've been given.

Describe a moment when you trusted God for something bigger than yourself.

When God made it clear in 2002 that our family should relocate across country from Perth to Sydney, He told us to sell our home and trust Him to provide for the new role in a new city. We obeyed His promptings and saw Him graciously provide a home, local church family and school for the children.

A very similar thing happening in 2007, when we were required to relocate from Sydney to another new city, Melbourne. Again we witnessed his hand of guidance and provision.

To improve your ministry, have you changed something in the last year?

I'm aiming to shepherd my team well -- maintaining regular and appropriate communication -- rather than being reactive and not initiating with those whom I oversee and lead.

What do you do for fun?

Watch Aussie Rules football, go to movies, drink good coffee, eat dark chocolate, and get away on road trips with my family.

Do you have a favorite quote?

"Every Christian must see themselves as a link to the next generation." William Barclay.
