Mission de Detroit Summer

Detroit is a significant city in the life of our nation. It is the anchor for the state of Michigan in population, economics, and politics. Detroit is a beautiful city, but also a broken city that is in need.  Detroit’s greatest need is for Christ followers to engage in both the beauty and the brokenness to proclaim the goodness of Jesus and show the love of Christ in meaningful ways.

Detroit Summer Mission desires to...

1. Train students in doing evangelism and discipleship on campus

2. Grow students understanding of God's heart for the city and for justice

3. Do cross-cultural ministry in the context of cross-cultural community.

As a team, we will be living and doing ministry on the campus of Wayne State University talking to students about Christ and helping connect them with the existing Cru movement. We will be engaged in evangelism and discipleship – developing Christ centered laborers by ministering on campus. We will also be partnering with Cru Inner City to resource established compassion ministries and local Churches that care for the needs of the city. Our hope is to combine campus and urban ministry as a means to live out the gospel fully.

Our summer mission will be 5 weeks long . Students will not be able to have outside employment during our summer mission. We will invest our time in both campus and urban ministry. Our desire is to equip and train students, to serve and love Detroit, and to enjoy and celebrate all the wonderful parts of Detroit by having fun together in the city.
